It provides an assessment of the role and potential impact of mitigation actions by non-state and subnational actors such as cities, states, regions, companies, investors and foundations.
Climate Opportunity: More Jobs, Better Health, Liveable Cities Sep 2018
The Climate Opportunity project investigates the economic, social and environmental benefits for climate change mitigation action in cities. Enhanced policies and measures for residential building retrofits, bus networks and district-scale renewable energy can generate millions of jobs, save billions of dollars for households, and prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths related to ambient air pollution worldwide. As newest output, a comprehensive report as well as an online-dashboard were published in September 2018.
Global climate action from cities, regions and businesses Aug 2018
This report is the most comprehensive assessment of these non-state actor commitments to reduce greenhouse gases to date. Key results show that action by cities, states, regions and business can go a long way towards meeting the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, but their actions alone are not enough to hold global temperature increase to well-below 2°C and work towards limiting it to 1.5° C.
