Over the last three years PML has maintained an average success rate above 20%, and rising, which places it in the top four out of a total of 112 research institutes and universities in the UK that applied for grants under the NERC scheme. Success in Standard Grants is especially encouraging as the scheme awards funding for innovative, ‘blue sky’ research and reflects PML’s standing as a pioneering, dynamic and creative world-class research organization. On a fundamental note, maintaining a success rate above 20% means that the number of proposals PML is allowed to submit is not ‘capped’. This is a further testament to PML’s internal review processes that ensures only the highest quality proposals are put forward.
