WASILLA, Alaska — More than half of all new homes in Alaska are built in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, which sprawls over an area the size of West Virginia. That should be good news for local officials, but with the Army Corps of Engineers allowing unmitigated wetland damage in Alaska, they fear polluted waterways and damaged salmon runs.
