to announce the launch of Young Pandas Bhutan and
celebrate International Youth Day 2018

Background
The Earth has been a very giving planet. Everything humans have needed to survive, and thrive, is provided by the natural world around us: food, water, fresh air, energy, medicine, materials for shelter, and even natural cycles such as climate and nutrients. Beyond such physical goods, the natural world provides tangible experiences such as natural beauty, outdoor sports and recreation as well as cultural and spiritual experiences. Human well-being depends on the benefits that nature provides for free, every day and everywhere.
To announce the launch of Young Pandas Bhutan, WWF Bhutan’s new social media platform for Bhutanese youth, and to celebrate International Youth Day 2018, WWF Bhutan would like to provide an opportunity to Bhutanese children and young adults to create and submit an artwork that captures your understanding/interpretation of the theme “Living in harmony with nature”.
Through your artwork, we want to remind our society of the interconnectedness of all life on earth and reveal the most significant relationships between humans and nature through the eyes of our youth.
Objectives:
- To demonstrate the interconnectedness of life on earth.
- To encourage children and youths to participate in creative art forms and to express themselves.
Applicant criteria
Children and youths aged between 12 to 24, living in Bhutan can work as individuals or in teams of up to 3 people to submit ONE photo/painting/drawing or any form of art work related to the theme, “Living in harmony with nature”. Applicants do not have to be affiliated with any schools, clubs, and/or associations.
Scope of art work
The art work can be submitted in any form of art, such as photography, painting, or drawing among others. It should illustrate the statement, “Living in harmony with nature”, as interpreted by the contestant. The artwork should capture or demonstrate, in a creative and thoughtful way, a relationship or interaction between human beings and nature.
Judging Criteria
- Composition
- Relevance to theme
- Creativity
Selection Process
The Competition Committee will first select 10 best artworks by applicants aged between 12 – 17 that best fits the criteria and 10 best artworks by applicants aged between 18 – 24 that best fits the criteria. From these, the committee will select the 3 top submissions (first, second, and third) from each category. Winners will be announced on October 7, 2018 on WWF Bhutan’s social media and website.
Award
All of the best 20 entries will be displayed at an Exhibition organized by WWF Bhutan in October 2018. The winners will also be awarded at this Exhibition.
- The first place winners will receive Nu. 5000
- The second place winners will receive Nu. 3000
- The third place winners will receive Nu. 2000

Submission of Artwork
For photograph entries: Submit your photograph via e-mail along with the application form and a copy of your CID or Provisional CID Number (for children below 15), to: wwfbhutan@gmail.com
For drawing/painting pieces:Submit through post along with the application form and a copy of your CID to:
