正文(英文)	In support of the work on the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the International Climate Initiative for Sustainable Consumption and Production (IKI-SCP) of WWF-Thailand, alongside SDGs Move Thailand and the Community-Based Research (CBR) team from the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), have organized a joint capacity building workshop on March 10th, 2018, which sets to address the critical role of biodiversity and need for sustainable management of agricultural ecosystems for local partners in Chiang Mai: Chiang Mai Social Enterprise (CSE), Thailand Organic Agricultural Innovation Foundation (TOF) and researchers from universities in Chiang Mai. The research project “Impacts of Agricultural Expansion on Headwater streams: A case study of Chiang Mai Social Enterprise (CSE) model in Mae Chaem, Chiang Mai” is being developed, through utilizing the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach to better identify the knowledge gaps and lessons learnt to further improve regulatory enforcements and planning approaches towards achieving deforested-free food supply chain. Through aligning with the SDGs as a solution model, the workshop is a major opportunity for both producers and local communities to bring forward environmental impacts of agriculture as a cross-cutting issue in national development goals, as well as localize the implementation of the SDGs. Project site areas, ‘Moo 1: Ban Song Than’ village and ‘Pang Hin Fon’ village, are amongst the few villages in Mae Chaem to address unsustainable farming practices of monoculture crops, such as Maize plantation, as drivers of deforestation and forest degradation. At present, both areas are undergoing ecological transition of agricultural farming practices from monoculture farming to integrated farming, where CSE and TOF have been key drivers towards this localized shift. Through these activities, the research project aims to strengthen and set in motion the interactive innovation model to nine other adjacent villages, as well as smallholder farmers and beyond; unlocking economic opportunities and social inclusion. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as Global Goals, of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, was built on the success of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as a call to action by all countries to take ownership and address a range of social needs for the achievement of the 17 goals, including poverty, social protection, education, climate change and environment protection, while ensuring that no one is left behind. The WWF-Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) project is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building, and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) supports this initiative on the basis of a decision adopted by the German Bundestag.
