The involvement of women in the development of their communities has become current in the Tsiribihina Delta villages. Created in 2016, the "Vonona" association ("Ready" in English) gathers active women in the village of Mahafotaka. Convinced that women can also act for the conservation and development of their small village, members shared their experiences in other villages nearby. Beginning with duck farming, these superwomen continued with the production and use of improved Kamado stoves.A source of inspiration for other women in the village of Andapotaly who also created their own association wich is called "Avotra" ("mutual aid" in English), after they have received free training given by the "Vonona" association. Now every household uses Kamado stoves for cooking. One thing lead to another, the "Avotra" association has sensitized its villagers to use the improved stoves and intends to produce for other villages and associations.

Last November, a new association of 18 women led by Nafizy Albert was born in Kaday. Members are learning sewing and embroidering as a income-generating activity. "This activity will surely reduce our dependence on resources from mangroves," says Nafizy. Let's encourage those active women in this noble act of sharing knowledge.
