正文(英文) | May 10, 2019 Fredericton, New Brunswick Natural Resources Canada One of the greatest opportunities for Canada is the shift toward clean growth. To combat climate change, Canada needs new and innovative approaches to electricity distribution. That is why the Government of Canada is funding an energy infrastructure project in New Brunswick that will help lower carbon pollution and increase economic competitiveness while protecting the environment. Member of Parliament Matt DeCourcey, on behalf of Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, today announced a $1-million contribution for a research and demonstration project with New Brunswick Power. This project will test conservation voltage reduction (CVR) as a potential solution to help customers conserve more energy, quantify energy savings and look at methods to increase renewable energy use on the provincial power grid. New Brunswick Power will collect and analyze data from volunteer residents and businesses to assess how CVR can find efficiencies and money savings for customers. The 12-month project will include the winter peak and the summer cooling peak seasons. Funding for this project will be provided by Natural Resources Canada’s Energy Innovation Program. Through Generation Energy, Canada's national energy dialogue, Canadians expressed that they want Canada to continue to be a leader in the transition to a clean growth economy. Canada will also continue to support innovative projects that create jobs, improve industry competitiveness, cut pollution and act on climate change. This federal–provincial partnership supports the commitment by the Atlantic premiers and the Government of Canada to develop a Clean Power Roadmap for Atlantic Canada. The global shift toward a cleaner, greener economy is the opportunity of a lifetime. From May 27 to 29, 2019, Canada will welcome over 25 countries to this year’s Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation Ministerial to discuss a future that is cleaner, brighter and more prosperous for generations to come. Canada will showcase its leadership in cleantech innovation, champion the issues of gender equality, youth and Indigenous people in clean energy and promote Canada as an investment destination.
