The report provides detail on emissions trends, including sector specific analysis of factors driving emissions. The report estimates the emissions reduction effort required to meet Australia’s emissions reduction targets. The projections include sensitivity analyses to illustrate how emissions may differ under changes in economic growth.

Tracking to Australia’s emissions reduction targets fact sheet provides an overview and summary of the report. The fact sheet was updated on 22 January 2019 to note Australia’s projected emissions in 2030 were revised down by 8 Mt CO₂-e since the 2017 projections.

The Methodology for the 2018 Projections document provides information on how the Department of the Environment and Energy has estimated the 2018 projections of greenhouse gas emissions. This methodology provides key data inputs, assumptions, formulas and methods.

Australia’s emissions projections – chart data was updated on 4 June 2019 for technical correction of figure 7.
