WRI Board selects new members: Tammie Arnold, Stephen Brenninkmeijer, Kathleen McLaughlin and Nader Mousavizadeh

WASHINGTON (March 8, 2019) —World Resources Institute (WRI) welcomes four new members and David Blood as the new Co-Chair of its Global Board of Directors.

Blood is co-founder of Generation Investment Management and a globally recognized leader in sustainable investing. He joined WRI’s Global Board in October 2016 and was selected as the Co-Chair in January 2019. He will serve alongside WRI’s long-time Board Chair James A. Harmon.

“David has built a very successful asset management business focusing on sustainable investment. He is a visionary and a leader in this area,” said WRI’s Board Chair Jim Harmon. “In order to achieve our mission, we need leaders with a deep understanding of finance and economics. David’s business acumen will help us to navigate this terrain and expand our impact.”

I’ve been deeply impressed with WRI and its track record of using research and its convening power to mobilize positive change in the world,” said Blood. “Given the size of the challenges we face, we urgently need to scale up the response. With the support of WRI’s excellent Board, partners, and staff, I feel the organization is well positioned to catalyze global action for a more sustainable future.”

WRI also elected four new members: Stephen Brenninkmeijer was elected in October, and Tammie Arnold, Kathleen McLaughlin and Nader Mousavizadeh were elected in January.

• Tammie Arnold is the Founding Partner at Alpha Ledger Technologies, Inc., and a former Partner at Generation Investment Management. Prior to her time at Generation, she spent 20 years in various positions at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), including Head of their Global ETF Platform and Managing Director. Arnold was instrumental in developing PIMCO’s $19 billion ETF business.

• Stephen Brenninkmeijer is an expert and innovator in impact investing. He founded Willows Investment in 2007, which aims to fund and support ventures with a social mission. Before founding Willows, he spent 27 years at C&A, the Brenninkmeijer family-owned international clothing retailer. In December 2018, Brenninkmeijer was appointed Chair of the European Climate Foundation.

• Kathleen McLaughlin is the Chief Sustainability Officer at Walmart and President of the Walmart Foundation. She is a former Director at McKinsey and serves on several nonprofit Boards, including the Council on Foundations and the Chinese Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED).

• Nader Mousavizadeh is a veteran of both the United Nations and financial sector, who started his own consultancy firm in 2013. Mousavizadeh is currently the Co-Founder and Co-CEO at Macro Advisory Partners, in addition to his membership on the World Economic Forum’s Global Risk Council and the European Council on Foreign Relations. While at the UN, Mousavizadeh served as Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s Special Assistant, and co-authored Annan’s memoir Interventions: A Life in War and Peace.
