WASHINGTON (November 7, 2020)—Joseph R. Biden and Kamala D. Harris have been elected as the next president and vice president of the United States, ushering in a major shift for U.S. domestic policy and the world. The Biden-Harris ticket made climate action a core pillar of their campaign.

President-elect Biden has put forward an ambitious climate agenda, including a pledge to re-enter the Paris Agreement on day one of his presidency and a vision to shift the U.S. to a zero-carbon economy. Exit polls show that this is what the majority of Americans want. Biden can set the tone by working with Congress on low-carbon, resilient legislation and by joining with leaders in states, cities and business who pushed forward on climate despite the Trump administration’s opposition.

What can President-elect Biden achieve in his first 100 days? What areas should he prioritize? What does this mean for international climate action and the U.S. role in the world? And, can Biden make meaningful progress during a pandemic and in a deeply divided country?

WRI’s President and CEO Andrew Steer and its top experts will share their thoughts on a press call Monday, November 9, 2020 at 12:00 pm EST as we prepare for this new era. The call will provide an opportunity to dive into topics, like climate finance, investments, the energy transition, job creation, global emissions and more.
