In the late 60s, the musicians that mattered the most were heavily influenced by Delaney Bramlett. We already discussed Eric Clapton this week. How about George Harrison? In 69, all George wanted to do was perform with Delaney & Bonnie. In 1970, Harrison released his greatest solo work, “All Things Must Pass,” which featured the Delaney & Bonnie band comprised of Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon, Carl Radle, Bobby Keys, Billy Preston and Jim Price backing him. Without Delaney & Bonnie there is no great George Harrison record. This clip , which features Harrison and Clapton on guitar, clearly shows how important Delaney & Bonnie were to the British rock stars. With both Clapton and Harrison on stage, it was Delaney Bramlett who seemed like the biggest star of them all. |
