Farmers Field School (FFS) approach, which supports participatory planning and decision making, encourages field-based learning and application of scientific concepts, and is driven by local knowledge, enabled the project to develop more than 50 best practices of agriculture and pastoral adaptation to climate change in different agroecological contexts in Senegal.

The methodological linkage of FFS with Dimitra Clubs, which are local groups empowering women and youth to identify and own solutions for common community challenges, enabled the project to transfer technical knowledge to non-FFS members especially women and scale up best practices across many villages where the Clubs are active.

The project adopted a truly bottom up approach by working at various levels starting from community groups to national level where a high level inter-sectoral group of various government departments was formed to mainstream local climate adaptation practices into regional and national policies including the National Guide for Local Planning.
