Tipping Points Ice Sheets

Following on from the first event in this discussion series, where the topic of tipping elements, irreversibility, and abrupt change in the Earth system was introduced (video here), we now present an event focused on the role of ice sheets. The event will take place on 15 November 2021, 16:00-17:30 CET. Note that a third event focusing on the Amazon is also open for registration.

The event will include two excellent talks:

  • Recent Updates on Ice Sheet Loss – Ricarda Winkelmann
  • Climate and sea-level impacts of Greenland and Antarctic ice sheet loss – Sophie Nowicki

The talks will be followed by 20 minutes of formal discussions and, for those who wish to stay on, a further 25 minutes of informal discussions on the topic.

The event will be recorded.

This discussion series is a joint activity of Analysis, Integration, and Modeling of the Earth System (AIMES), the Earth Commission, and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Safe Landing Climates Lighthouse Activity.
