英文摘要The long-term regulation of biodiversity in tropical rainforests is a profound, important, and still mysterious topic [1]. Tropical rainforests contain the highest levels of biodiversity of any terrestrial ecosystem but our understanding of the factors determining community composition and species distribution remains poor. Cannon, Edwards, and Freckleton [2] highlight the inherent complexity underlying these factors and the difficulty of asking the right question regarding their impacts. We agree with their argument and extend it to also include an important evolutionary perspective.
