英文摘要 | In a previous paper [1], we highlighted that species’ demographic variations can severely impede the ability of Janzen-Connell mechanisms (JC) to maintain hyper-diverse tropical plant communities [2,3], in contrast to predictions under neutral theory [4]. We suggested that, rather than asking how much more diversity is generated by JC mechanisms relative to expectations under a neutral model, future work should focus on finding approaches that accurately quantify whether species’ differences contribute positively or negatively to diversity maintenance. |
